At Gelateria Gondola in Chatswood, we don’t just make gelato. We create it. We spend our days dreaming up new flavours and tastes to excite and entice our customers, searching out the finest, natural ingredients to produce a gelato that’s second to none.

Our artisan gelato and sorbets are hand-crafted daily in small batches following traditional methods to ensure the highest quality and flavour. And our vertical gelato maker is one of the few in Australia. Come and try our fresh gelatos and sorbets and taste the difference. One mouthful and you’ll be hooked.

From gelato master to you

In our open kitchen in Chatswood, customers can watch our gelato masters in action and see the art of gelato-making first hand. From Pistacchio Siciliano to Panna Cotta e Fichi, our gelatos and sorbets are hand-made with love using only the purest, natural ingredients and a vertical gelato maker. We’re constantly tweaking and experimenting to bring our customers the freshest gelatos and sorbets bursting with intense flavours and melt-in-your mouth goodness. Come and see our gelato masters at work and try the authentic taste of artisan gelato. It’s gelato, the way it’s meant to be.

Our story

The Gelateria Gondola story began back in Italy where, as a young boy, Luca Zanini, dreamed of one day owning his own gelateria. His passion for food grew with him and he trained as a chef in IPSSAR Maffioli in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy. His qualifications took him around the globe where he gained experience in some of the world’s best restaurants in Stuttgart, Germany; London, UK and; Tenerife, Canary Islands. Luca spent a gap year as a gelatiere in Germany where he mastered his skills and further grew his dedication for gelato making. He eventually came to live in Sydney, Australia where his long held dream of creating authentic artisanal gelato was realised with the opening of Gelateria Gondola in Chatswood. Many awards later, Luca is happy to be sharing his childhood dream with the world.

The owners of Gondola are former Italian and a la carte chefs. I’ve also had the good fortune to eat in many of there restaurants. These guys cook some of the best seafood and home style Italian food I have ever tasted. So.. I was extremely excited to try the Gelato at Gondola when they finally opened.

The flavours I’ve had are Pineapple Sorbet, Pistachio, Vanilla Madagascar and Hazelnut. They also let me taste many of the other flavours.All I can say is that they are absolutely amazing.I will definitely be going back!!!

Went there last weekend. I chose pistachio and green tea flavour. It was amazingly delicious!!

They use 40% fruit which means I could taste natural ingredient more.The owners and staff are Italian and very friendly. They let me taste a couple of flavours before purchasing which were all very nice.

They use an exclusive gelato machine that I’ve never seen. Once you go there, you will be a Gondola fan 🙂
